Kildare. The proposal includes for the extension of the extraction area into agricultural lands to the south with known quality reserves of sand and gravel. The extension will cover an area of 28.3 hectares (ha), with the overall application area covering 37.8 ha, the balance comprising continuance of use and restoration. The Proposed Development will seek to extract sand and gravel reserves (circa 3,000,000 tonnes over the lifetime) to a final pit floor of 71m OD, ensuring a finished pit floor above the winter water table. The Proposed Development seeks the continuance of use of existing established pit infrastructure (including processing plant, machinery, entrance, office/welfare facilities, carpark, wheel wash, weighbridge, haul routes and other ancillary infrastructure). The Proposed Development also includes provisions for the restoration of the Site, which will include the importation of circa 1,125,000 tonnes of clean uncontaminated soil and stone by-product materials to compliment overburden originating from within the Site. A planning permission of 15 years is being sought for the completion of the Proposed Development. An Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application.
