Proposed development

Application description published by Louth County Council.
PART 8: Notice of Intention to carry out public realm improvement works located generally along Clanbrassil street, Church street, Bridge street, Linenhall street, Northgate street and Fairgreen Road and at junctions with Market street, Yorke Street, Patrick Street, John Street, The Laurels and Wolfe tone terrace. The public realm is to be reconfigured so as to provide for; (a) resurfaced granite footpaths, asphalt parking bays and improved carraigeways, (b) the provision of an urban public open space with wider footpaths, planting and seating between the Saint Nicholas church of Ireland nad the Saint Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. (c) improved pedestrian crossings at various intersections (d) decluttering and widening of all footpaths and (E) 3 no. intersection layouts will be modified (i) The Laurels signalised junction, reducing The Laurels to a single lane approach, relocating the pedestrian crossing across church street to north of the junction and tightening the curve radii, (ii) The one way link between Linenhall Street and Bridge street will be removed and Southbound traffic will use the new T-Junction formed in Bridge street, (iii) The removal of the existing link road between Fair Green and Linenhall street and provision of a new link north-west of the existing road. The proposal involves narrowing of the traffic lanes and tightening corner radii at junctions to better facilitate on-road cycling. Development works include the addition and removal of trees, the inclusion of new public lightening, new street furniture and public art. The proposals include all necessary service, utility and associated site works. The areas for the proposed works are within the curtilage of a number of Protected structures located within the subject site, within the designated Clanbrassil Street Architectural Conservation Area and within a Zone of Archaeological potential. Louth County council has undertaken Appropriate Assessment screening, the details of which are available to the general public.
