Permission for (1) the demolition of the following: existing single storey western entrance and associated classrooms, the existing single-storey classroom block and the two-storey ancillary wing of accommodation, both to the rear of the main school building, the existing maintenance sheds, two-storey changing building and the single storey WC block. (2) The upgrading and refurbishment of main school building, which is a protected structure, to include a general upgrade of fire and life systems, the construction of a new entrance adjacent to the chapel, also a protected structure, the construction of two-storey western extension to main school building with new entrance point at lower ground level and the removal of external fire escape stair to the rear, to be replaced with enclosed fire escape stair to the east. (3) The upgrading and refurbishment of the gymnasium, a protected structure, including the provision of an external ramp to provide level access and egress. (4) The construction of new buildings to incorporate a new single-storey changing building to be provided adjacent to the gymnasium, a two storey pitched roof to the north to accommodate technology classrooms and science laboratories, and a three-storey pitched roof building to the east to accommodate art classrooms. (5) Other works include the provision of a new substation and maintenance /storage shed. (6) Works to the school grounds will consist of the construction of an all-weather sports pitch to replace an existing grass pitch to the north of the school buildings, 6 no. ballcourts, landscaping stepped terraced seating to the rear of the main school building and associated hard and soft landscaping throughout. (7) The development will also include a new vehicular access from the Longford Road. The new access will facilitate an internal bus drop-off and pick-up route. Access and parking arrangements include the provision of 92 no. car parking spaces, incorporating 5 no. disabled parking spaces, 3 no. minibus parking bays and 11 no. bicycle parking spaces. (8) To allow for all for the proposed new build, extension and refurbishment works to be carried out while the school remains operational, permission is also sought for temporary school accommodation, comprising 40 no. classrooms & ancillary accommodation, temporary set down and parking arrangements (9) New foul, water and drainage system, boundary treatment and all other site & development works.
