Development of two waste facilities; a metal recycling facility and a recovered waste storage facility. The metal recycling facility will have a capacity of 45,000 tonnes per annum for the processing of scrap metal. All waste activities including acceptance, processing and storage [containers] will occur within an existing building [Hall A]. The finishes product will be transported either in bulk load or in containers depending on the end market. The baled recovered waste storage facility will accept a maximum of 45,000 tonnes per annum of recyclable materials recovered from household and commercial waste. This waste will be stored within an existing building onsite [Hall C] prior to shipping. There will be no processing activities within Hall C. A dedicated area [4,190 sq.m.] will also be established on the quayside for material storage prior to loading on ships. Other ancillary works will include the provision of a demountable weighbridge, re-surfacing of an existing hardstand area [1,040 sq.m.]; installation of a hydro-carbon interceptor and surface water holding tank. The two facilities will require waste facility permits from Cork County Council. An Environmental Impact Statement has been prepared in respect of the proposed development. Extension of Duration of Permission granted under An Bord Pleanála Reference PL53.240794 (Council Ref: 12/52007).
