A c.159 MW capacity battery storage facility located within a secured compound, on a c. 3.2 Ha site, and will - subject to detailed design, commercial and technical considerations, include: (a) up to 89 No. battery container units (c.14.7 m x 3.4 m x 3.8 m); (b) up to 36 No. inverter units (c.12.2 m x 2.4 m x 2.9 m); (c) a substation compound surrounded by a 2.6 m high palisade fence with a dedicated access gate containing a single – storey control building (c. 240 sq.m.) and electrical plant including a bunded transformer (c. 200 sq.m. with a c. 8m high fire wall on one side); a bunded house transformer (c. 20 sq.m. surrounded on 3 sides by a c. 3 m high fire wall) and var support unit (4 m x 3 m x 3.4 m high); (d) a single storey battery control building (c. 156 sq.m.); (e) a 2.6 m high palisade fence and access gate, with primary access via the existing station and internal roadway network and temporary access via the existing boundary onto the R630; (f) ancillary structures including lightning masts (c. 18 m high) and pole mounted CCTV cameras (c. 8.3 m high); (g) and ancillary site works including site clearance works and the installation of site services including underground cables. The planning permission is being sought for a 10 year duration. A Natura Impact Statement will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application. Licensed by the Environmental Protection Agency under an Industrial Emissions (IE) License [Ref. P0561-05] and a Lower Tier COMAH site and therefore falls under the requirements of the Control of Major Accident Hazard Regulations (COMAH) Regulations, 2015.

Minor modifications and reconfigurations to the previously permitted Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development (Cork County Council Reg Ref. 19/04891), primarily comprising: (1) Updated layout of the substation compound based on revised electrical requirements to facilitate grid connection; (2) revised battery equipment based on updated battery technology; and (3) ancillary equipment to support the BESS development. The amended design incorporates: a 159 MW capacity BESS facility located within a secured compound, on a c. 3.3 Ha site, and will include: (a) 36 No. battery container unit arrangements on concrete plinths (95 sq.m.; height of 3m); (b) 36 No. inverter / transformer / RMU unit arrangements on concrete plinths (50 sq.m.; height of 4.2m); (c) a substation compound surrounded by a 2.6 m high palisade fence with a dedicated access gate containing: 2 No. control building (c. 240 sq.m. 5.1m high ) and electrical plant including: 2 No. bunded house transformers (c. 200 sq.m. surrounded by 8m high fire wall); 2 No. bunded house transformers (c. 19.8 sq.m. surrounded by 3 m high fire wall) and 2 No. VAR support units on concrete plinths (24 sq.m., 3.4 m high); (d) a 2.6 m high palisade fence and access gate, with primary access via the existing station and internal roadway network and temporary access via the existing boundary onto the R630; (e) ancillary plant equipment and structures including lightning masts (c. 18 m high) and pole mounted CCTV cameras (c. 8.3 m high) and ancillary site works including site clearance works and the installation of site services including underground cables. The development will consist of: development on a 0.8ha site of a c. 2MW capacity edge computing facility located within a secured compound, and will, subject to a detailed design, commercial and technical considerations, include: (a) 1 no. modular control building (c. 116sq.m. and c.4.1m high). (b) Electrical and computing plant and equipment comprising: (1) 20 No. IT modules (c. 45 sq.m. and c. 3.9 sq.m high with additional roof mounted cooling units), (2) 2 No. LV modules (c. 59 sq.m. and c. 3.8m high), (3) 2 No. battery modules (c.25 sq.m and c. 3.8m high), (4) 1 No. MV module containing bunded and ventilated transformer (c. 29.7 sq.m. and c. 3.8m high) and (5) 7 no. standby generator units (c. 10 sq. m. c. 2.3m high), surrounded by c. 2.6 m high palisade fencing and gates (d) Ancillary site clearance and development works including provision of areas of hard standing, car park area, covered walkway linking all modules and connections to site services networks. Permission for the replacement of approximately 324m of existing 2.4m high chainlink fencing and associated gates with 324m of new 2.4m high green palisade security fencing/gates and all associated site works.

The development of a c.19 MW capacity battery storage facility located within a secured compound, on a 0.65 Ha site, and will –subject to detailed design, commercial and technical considerations; include; (a) up to 6 No. battery storage units [each typically comprising a containerised battery (c.12.2m x 2.5m x 3.2m), HVAC (c2.7m x 2.7m), inverter (c.3m x 3m) and transformer (c.3.3m x 3.3m)]; (b) a 28sq.m single storey control equipment building; (c) a 28 sq.m single storey switchgear building; (d) ancillary electrical plant including a transformer and var support unit; (e) a c.15.6m high lightning mast and c.18m high SCADA communications mast; (f) a 2.6m high chainlink fence and access gate, with primary access via the existing station and temporary access via the existing boundary onto the R630; (g) ancillary site works including site clearance and the installation of site services. The development will consist of a c.19 MW capacity battery storage facility located within a secured compound, and will - subject to detailed design, commercial and technical considerations, include: (a) a control building (c. 112 sq. m., c. 4.7 m high); (b) plant and equipment comprising: (1) up to 12 no. battery container units (c. 30 sq. m. and up to c. 4.7 m high) with roof mounted HVACs; (2) up to 6 no. battery unit transformers on concrete plinths (c. 11 sq. m. and c. 4 m high); (3) up to 6 no. inverter units (c. 30 sq. m. and c. 3 m high); (4) a bunded house transformer (c. 20 sq. m. and c. 3.3 m high) with firewall on three sides; (5) an MV stepdown transformer (c. 60 sq. m. and c. 4.5 m high) with firewall on three sides; (6) VAR supports system on a concrete plinth (c.24 sq. m. and c. 3.4 m high); (7) cable trays and associated service connections; (8) up to 4 no. lightning masts (c. 20 m high); (9) a c. 18 m high SCADA pole; (10) a pole mounted security camera (c. 8.3 m high); (c) c. 2.6 m high palisade fencing and gates; (d) demolition of an existing building (c. 147 sq. m. and c.5.5 m high) and (e) ancillary site clearance and development works including provision of areas of hardstanding, internal access roads, and connections to site services networks.
