Crann Centre Limited is applying for planning permission for development consisting of river restoration works at the Monymusk Conservation Area in a site located between the Meelaherragh Road and the Owenanare River in the townland of Meelaherragh, Kanturk, Co. Cork. The development consists of the following works: (i) introduction of a vegetated swale (ditch) in the semi-improved grassland field adjacent to the Owenanare River; (ii) construction of a wetland scrape (shallow pond); (iii) construction low mounds within the river floodplain; and (iv) placement of tree root plates abutting into the river channel to help regulate flow. All works are aimed at improving water quality and biodiversity. The proposed development includes associated temporary development works including a temporary compound area and temporary access which will be in use for the duration of the works. The Natura Impact Statement will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application.
