Site planning risk brief

The development will consist of the construction of state-of-the-art small craft harbour berths that will provide mooring facilities in all tidal conditions for 32 no. commercial and leisure fishing vessels ranging from 6 to 18 metres in length. The small craft harbour will feature 10 steel piles, a main walkway and multiple finger pontoons. It will be connected to the shore by a gangway, with all necessary safety lighting and service pedestals provided. The proposed site for the small craft harbour is located at the southwestern end of Dinish Island, between the newly constructed eastern breakwater and the extended wharf

Small craft harbour, which will provide mooring capacity to 32 inshore fishing vessels with a maximum size of 18m length overall (LOA), for all tidal conditions. The Small Craft Harbour will consist of a main walkway and multiple finger pontoons and will be connected to the land via a gangway. Safety light and Service pedestal will be installed on the Small Craft Harbour

A wharf extension and associated ancillary development at Dinish Island. The development comprises of a wharf extension approximately 216m long and approximately 40m wide (total new quay area approx. 9,000m2); dredging of a berthing pocket for the new quay to -8.0m Chart Datum; dredging of adjacent navigation channel to a depth of -6.5m Chart Datum; construction of 2 no. new breakwaters at the entrance to the channel; use of dredged material as reclamation material for construction of part of quay and breakwaters; Appropriate adjustments to aids to navigation in accordance with statutory approval (application to be submitted to Commissioners of Irish Lights); provision of a new access point to wharf extension from internal access road; provision of additional 59 no. car parking spaces at existing carpark; relocation of existing pontoon; and all associated ancillary site works including temporary construction work areas. All on a site of approximately 10.1 ha.

Retention of construction of detached Compressor House and of alterations to elevations of Calcareous Marine Algae facility and Permission for additions to same to include (a) lean-to canopy to east, (b) lean-to pallet store to north and (c) loading dock to south

A new fuel tank compound (to replace existing fuel tank area on Dinish Island and Castletownbere mainland quay) to accommodate 6 no. bunded oil tanks (130,000 litre capacity each), 2 no. supply lines to connect fuel tanks to permitted new quay and onwards to existing quay, ancillary surface water drainage system, and ancillary site development works including areas of hardstand, public lighting and boundary fencing. All on a site of 0.42 ha approx.

Permission for retention to retain: 1.) The construction of erosion preventing rock armour along a section of site boundary at the shoreline of the property and 2.) The associated access road to facilitate these works and 3.) The erection of a metal gate and associated metal post and wire boundary fencing.
