The development will consist of a 114 Megawatt gas fired peaking power plant (which will be capable of running on a mix of natural gas and hydrogen) comprising the ’electricity generating station’. The electricity generating station will comprise of 2 no. open cycle gas turbine (OCGT) generators each consisting of an air intake filter system, exhaust stack (28 metres high), air vent stack, inter cooler system, turbine control room and transformers. In addition the development will include: • Above Ground Installation (AGI) to facilitate connection to the Gas Network, with compound area of 1,600 m²; • 3 no. Gas AGI buildings; • Admin & welfare block; • Electrical Substation with area of 3,800 m²; • 1 no. Substation building; • Electrical building; • 3 no. Secondary fuel storage tanks with volume of 3,600 m³; • Fire Water Storage Tank & Pumphouse; • Sludge Tank & Pump House; • Resurfacing, Repair and Improvement of Existing Site Entrance; • Replacement Bridge; • Gatehouse; • Internal Access Roads; and • Associated Grid Connection Works within the L52925 Public Roadway. The development will include the provision of 12 no. parking spaces, footpaths, landscaping, fencing and all other associated site development plant and equipment and other works including surface water and foul wastewater drainage infrastructure. The development includes for the demolition and removal of a dwelling (112 m²) and associated farmyard barn and outbuildings (94 m², 15 m², 17 m² and 45 m²), all within a total overall application boundary of 4.35 ha. It should be noted in respect of this planning application that permission is sought for a period of 25 years.
Synchronous condenser/flywheel, located within a fenced compound of c.0.85 ha consisting of: machine building to house equipment including the synchronous condenser, flywheel, lube oil skid, air compressor and pumps. Supporting items of plant; cooling equipment, c.6m high modular containers to house electrical and control equipment, 2 auxilliary transformers and electrical plant including external circuit breaker, HV electrical compound with electrical switchgear and main step-up transformer and new c.200m underground cable grid connection to the Bellacorick 110kv substation; diesel generator, fire water tank, underground oil separator and collection pit, services connections including electrical, water and wastewater and constructed wetland connecting ot Owenmore River; 3 office/welfare buildings and 2 spare parts containers. External lighting poles c. 9m, lightning monopole and Scada communications mast,. 4 fire walls around main step up transformer c. 8m high, 2 fire walls either side of auxilliary transformers c. 5m high, 3 firewalls around cooler for main transformer, 8m high. Ancillary site clearance and developemt works including provision of areas of hardstanding, internal access roads, laydown area, car parking and connection to site services networks. The development will be bounded by one c. 3.6m high palisade fence on the east side and one 5m high palisade fence to the south side. Site access will be by means of a new c. 3.6m high palisade gate and a second 3.6m sliding gate accessed from the Shranakilla Road off the N59. Permission sought is for 10 years. NIS submitted with application.
