Planning precedent report

To apply for thirty-year permission for a grid system services facility located at Gortawee, Mucklagh, Ballyconnell, County Cavan, over an area of c.3.46 hectares. The proposed works shall consist of the installation and operation of energy storage units, including 1no. customer switchgear containers and compound, which will be connected to the national grid via the adjacent Gortawee 110kV substation infrastructure, electrical transformers and inverter units, underground cabling and ducting, boundary fencing, security entrance gates, CCTV, internal access road and all associated ancillary infrastructure on land

For the development of a battery energy storage system (BESS) within a total site area of up to 0.62 hectares, to include 1 no. single storey electrical substation building, 1 no. customer switchgear container, 15 no. electrical inverter/transformer station modules (SKIDS), 10 no. containerised battery storage modules on concrete support structures, 20 no. heating, ventilation and air conditioning units (HVAC units), access tracks and upgraded site entrance, associated electrical cabling and ducting, security gates, perimeter security fencing, CCTV security monitoring system, culvert, landscaping works and all associated ancillary infrastructure on land

For the erection of 2 no. fully enclosed fuel storage tanks proposed for the refuelling of the Applicant's internal transport fleet. Each tank will have an outer bund which has in excess of 110% of tank capacity and will be sited upon a Concrete Apron with a Class 1 Full Retention Oil Interceptor. Significant further information and revised plans have been submitted.

For development consisting of alterations, extension and change of use to Slieve Rushen House to form a Heritage and Ecological Visitor Centre, including toilet facilities, café, information display etc and meeting rooms and 1 no. self catering apartment with associated improvements and upgrade to the existing vehicular access and provision of new car-parking, picnic area and play-park and connection to the public sewer

- RED III - for a solar energy development comprising ground mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, mounted on steel support structures, underground cabling, temporary construction compound, erection of Transformer station (11kV), laying of a permeable gravel access track, widening of existing site (field) entrance, relocation of the existing ESB overhead line, erection of CCTV poles and cameras, erection of an entrance gate, artificial berm, landscaping and biodiversity measures all associated ancillary development works, for the purpose of generation renewable energy electricity. Planning Permission is sought for 35-year operation of the solar farm following which the site will be decommissioned, all development removed and the Site restored to agricultural lands

To construct 1 No. Poultry House together with all ancillary structures and all associated site works arising from the above proposed development. Significant further information and revised plans have been submitted
