    EirGrid PLC, with the consent and approval of the Electricity Supply Board (ESB), intends to apply for permission for works to uprate the existing Castlebar - Dalton 110 kV overhead line (OHL). The proposed development will take place within the following townlands: Liscromwell Carrowkeel Brees Breandrum or Windsor Prison South Facefield Aghalusky Drumnaslooeen Mossbrook Cloontybaunan Ballinagran Ballynastangford Lower Derrynamraher Rathredmond Birchfield Cappavicar South Dooros Garrywadreen Keelkill Drumadoon Drumneen Ballinvoash Legaun Ballynastangford Upper Gneeve Ballymacloughlin Drumneen (Prendergast) Lisnaran Ballyrourke Ballynew Drumcorrabaun Pollavaddy Eskerlevally Kilmacrade Moat Drumneen South Burris Garhawnagh Castlegar Barrackland Carrowgarve Crantahar Rinnahulty Knocknamoghalaun Drumkeen Carrowmore Rathduff Clare Derreen Heathlawn Kilbeg-Malone Prison North Coolaghbaun The Castlebar - Dalton 110 kV circuit is 27.8 km in length and runs between the existing Castlebar 110 kV substation in the townland of Aghalusky in central County Mayo, to Dalton 110 kV substation located in the townland of Clare, eastern County Mayo. The OHL has a total of 144no. supporting structures. The proposed development will comprise:? the replacement (“restringing”) of the existing OHL circuit conductor wires with a new higher capacity conductor between Castlebar 110 kV and the Dalton 110 kV substations;? the replacement of end mast in-situ at 1no. location, with a similar structure;? the replacement of angle masts in-situ at 6no. locations, with similar structures;? the strengthening of tower foundations at 4no. locations;? the strengthening of towers (i.e., member replacement) at 10no. locations;? the painting of towers at 10no. locations;? the replacement of tower bolts at 3no. locations;? the replacement of polesets at 48no. locations, with similar structures. The change in structures will result in standardised heights from 16 m to 24 m along the circuit.
