Permission for installation of two monolith signage to the north east and east of the Belfield campus along Stillorgan Road. Signage will measure 6m x 2m and feature back-lit UCD Logo in a black/stainless steel finish.

We, University College Dublin, intend to apply for permission for development at this site extending to c. 3.83 hectares on lands at the UCD Sports Precinct east of Newstead and north of the Campus Ring Road (extension of Wynnsward Drive), University College Dublin, Belfield, Dublin 4. The development includes amendments to permission granted under Reg. Reg: D23A/0163. The development will consist of the omission of two canopies at entrances along the eastern elevation of the permitted multi-Purpose Performance and Events Centre (MPPEC) and minor landscape works. The first canopy is located above the entrance to the entrance lobby at lower ground floor level in the northern section of the building. The second canopy is located above the entrance to the main foyer at ground floor level in the northern section of the building. Minor landscape works including the omission of the permitted retaining wall adjacent to the eastern elevation at the southern part of the building are also proposed. No other changes to the permitted development are proposed.

The proposals comprise buildings, sports pitches and landscaping forming Phase 2 of the planned wider phased redevelopment of the UCD Sports & Student Amenities Precint (Phase 1 application reg. ref. D22A/0828). The development will consist of the construction of a multi-Purpose Performance & Examination Centre over three floors comprising a multi-purpose sports hall (c. 4500 sqm, c13.3 metres in height) performance centre (c. 2260 sqm, c. 15.8 metres in height) and tennis centre (c.3425sqm. c.13.3 metres in height) providing 5 no. indoor tennis courts and all associated facilities including plant area at lower ground floor area (c. 395 sqm) located to the west of the existing UCD Sports Centre and additional roof level plant and green roof. Landscaped area and 'Sports Plaza' providing informal recreation, pedestrian and cycle connections to the west and south of the proposed buildings and a skills wall in the northern part of the site. 1 no. existing tennis court in the southern part of the site to be retained with 2 no. courts removed. Additional pedestrian and cycle connections are provide to the east of the proposed buildings providing links to the adjoining uses with 4 no. accessible car parking spaces ( 1 no. EV charging point) and set down area and cycle parking and the removal of 164 no. car parking spaces and relocation of 3 no. 5-a-side soccer pitches. Works to existing student centre to provide alternative fire escape. All associated access (Campus Ring Road), infrastructure and works to facilitate the development including 1. no. substation and 1 no. water pumphouse. 9 no. signage zones are included on the southern, western and eastern elevations of the MPPEC building providing a total of c.255 sqm.

Permission for development at this site extending to c. 1.43 hectares at Astra Hall / UCD Student Centre, North of the Campus Ring Road, University College Dublin, Belfield Dublin 4. The develpment will consist of a single storey extension (c. 215 sqm) of the existing Astra Hall / UCD Student Centre extending from the eastern elevation of the building (c. 795 sqm total proposed floor area), reconfigured landscaping and relocated cycle parking (158 no. spaces) and all associated works. 2 no. signage zones on the eastern and southern elevations totalling 35 sqm.

Permission for development at this site extending to c. 6 ha. The site includes a Protected Structure (Water Tower RPS No. 1901). The proposals comprise sports pitches and associated infrastructure forming phase 1 of the planned wider phased redevelopment of the UCD Sports & Student Amenities Precinct. The development will consist of the removal of existing sports pitches and 66 no. surface car parking spaces, the reconfiguration of existing sports pitches and the construction of new sports pitches and courts, consisting of 2no artificial surface soccer pitches 106m x 70m and 106m x 73m, 6 no. five a side pitches 30m x 20m, a hockey training area 50m x 61m, hurling wall 20m long X 5.3m high, including perimeter fencing varying in height from 2.4m to 5m and flood lighting, with 2 no. pumphouses, 3.6m x 3.6m and 3.3m high. New campus roads, cycle and pedestrian routes, replacement of existing bus terminus with 2no. bus stops and relocated set down area located adjacent to existing student centre on the campus ring road, hard and soft landscaping and all associated drainage and service infrastructure to facilitate the development.

The proposed development will comprise the comprehensive refurbishment of the existing 3 storey Biology (West) and the 4 storey Physics (North) buildings (existing c. 13,356sq m) at the O'Brien Centre for science with the provision of a 4 storey new clip-on structure extension and 1no. Additional floor (c. 7,893sq m Gross Floor Area) to the West building and a new 4 storey link (c. 1,628 sq m gross Floor Area) connecting the two buildings, and South and a new stair core (c. 143 sq m) to North (c. 23,020 sq m Gross Floor Area overall) to provide overall contemporary lab space, offices, workshop spaces, meeting rooms and teaching spaces along with other ancillary facilities. The development includes demolition works to the facade of the buildings; upgrading of the existing concrete structures; addition of new pedestrian entrance at the north west junction, relocation of 90 no. bicycle spaces to the north of the West Building and the provision of 126 no. additional bicycle parking spaces in a cycle parking structure adjacent the Hub building, relocation of 4no. accessible car parking space. It is proposed to provide an underground attenuation tank in an area north of the UCD Students Union building, an extended generator compound south of the existing substation building, and to provide a new waste storage enclosure (c.108 sq m) in an area north-west of the UCD Computer Centre. Green roofs are provided at roof level and the proposal includes all site services, drainage works above and below ground, plant, landscaping and all associated ancillary site development works, There are no works proposed to the existing Protected Structures within the University College Dublin Campus as part of this planning application.

The general height of the proposed building ranges from c.18.6 m up to overall height of c.48.88m (up to the highest of the proposed tower elements). The Centre for Creativity includes the provision of a study centre, a lecture theatre, workshop/studio/classroom facilities, ancillary exhibition spaces and all associated ancillary areas/facilities. The proposed development will consist of: Level 0 - Educational facilities including - forum (foyer/reception), study centre, UCD experience area, equipment room and demonstration spaces, workshops, studios/maker space areas, retail area, café and all associated ancillary areas/facilities. Level 1 - (including mezzanine areas) - Educational facilities including study centre, UCD experience areas, creative teaching spaces, offices and all ancillary support facilities. At mezzanine level - Educational facilities including study centre, workspaces, offices and all associated ancillary areas/facilities. Level 2 - Educational facilities including a lecture theatre, UCD experience area, studios/classrooms/study areas and all associated ancillary areas/facilities. Level 3 - Educational facilities including studio/classroom/study areas, UCD experience areas and all associated ancillary areas/facilities. Level 4 - Educational facilities including UCD experience area, creative teaching spaces, studios and all associated ancillary areas, facilities. Level 5,6 and 7 - Educational facilities including UCD Experience areas and all associated ancillary areas/facilities (including an observation areas at Level 7). At basement Level - Associated ancillary plant facilities, storage and ancillary areas/facilities, storage and ancillary areas/facilities. At roof level over part of level 2 and level 4- provision of a sedum roof (with a combined area c. 1184 sqm) and Photo Voltaic panels (with a combined area c. 230 sqm) and paved terrace (c. 270 sqm), associated plant, roof lights and roof access. The proposals also provides for associated landscaping including a stepped reflective pool (located at part of the south-west, north-west and north east elevations of the proposed Centre for Creativity) fronting the new campus Arrival Plaza (part of a separate planning application). an external south-facing courtyard forming part of the new Ardmore Quad (part of a separate planning application), an external service area, an external workshop terrace area at ground floor level, external storage facilities (c.91 sqm) and all site services and associated site development works. There are no works proposed to the existing Protected Structures within the University College Dublin Campus as part of this planning application.
