Completion of partially constructed 15.3km long 38kV overhead electricity line from Thurles electricity substation to the Borrisoleigh electricity substation as permitted under TCC Reg 08/511136 which comprises an overhead line supported by a total of 116 structures - as this permission has expired, permission is sought for works not yet completed, namely 1) works to 38 no. structures to (subject to final detailed design) erect replacement wooden poleset structures or alter existing structures, 2) stringing of conductor along approx. 7 km of the overhead line, and 3) all ancillary works related to the project

1) domestic garage/store, 2) sunroom to side of existing house, 3) conversion of existing domestic garage to a bedroom and ensuite including alterations to roof and front elevation, 4) additional window to side elevation and 5) all associated site works

A) construction of a new, part two-storey, part single-storey detached dwelling, b) new detached garage, c) new site access, d) new connections to existing utilities, e) new waste-water treatment system and percolation area and f) all associated site works

Construction of a 36 m high lattice type communication structure carrying antennae, dishes and ancillary equipment located within a 2.4 m high palisade compound

Construction of 1 no. A+-30 Mvar STATCOM transformer, 1 no. auxillary transformer, 3 no. reactors and 1 no. outdoor cooling bank, control and valve building (233m2), 1 harmonic filter, 1 HV circuit breaker (including CT and VT), 1 MV disconnector and earth switch, 2 no. cable sealing ends, 1 no. 110kV feeder bay, 1 busbar connection and underground connection to existing ESB Thurles 110 kV substation, security fencing, security gate, 7 no. 22m high lightning masts, permeable and non-permeable surfacing, additional internal access road, additional fencing to match existing 2.6 m high palisade and all other ancillary site development works and 2 temporary contractors compounds (the development is an extension to the existing substation and this extension has an overall site area (within the planning application boundary) of 1.839ha. In operation the STATCOM would be accessed through the existing gated entrance to the site via the local road to the immediate South. During construction, temporary access is proposed to the east of the existing substation. A Natural Impact Statement (NIS) has been prepared as part of this application)

A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development to consist of a new site entrance and access track, site security fencing including a noise acoustic barrier, access gates, BESS enclosures, a BESS intake substation, MV skid, a back-up generator, a monitoring house, an auxiliary transformer, spares containers, CCTV, an onsite toilet, carparking, a temporary construction stage compound area, landscaping and all associated ancillary development services and works, all to be provided within a total overall application boundary of 2.69 ha. Permission is sought for the proposed BESS development for a period of 10 years with an operational period of 40 years. An Appropriate Assessment Screening Report (AASR) and Natura Impact Statement (NIS) has been prepared for this development and submitted with this planning application.
