The proposed development involves the repair and reinstatement of existing neon signage on the southeast and northeast elevations, including the refurbishment of lettering, neon tube re-lamping, rewiring along existing cable routes, and new fireman's switch. Additionally, the proposal includes the replacement of two existing low-level illuminated information signs with new signs of matching size at the same locations.
PROTECTED STRUCTURE: Millenium Theatre Company intend to apply for planning permission for development at The Ambassador Theatre (Protected Structure - RPS No. 6437), Parnell Street, Dublin 1. The proposed development consists of the following, with a detailed description set out in the application documentation: (a) Repair of stoneware, limestone and granite to façades, including repairs to fixings, replacement/repair of missing/deteriorated elements, removal of the metal sign above the entrance, and repair of stone façade behind. (b) Repointing of designated areas. (c) Render repairs including patching, re-rendering, and restoring finishes to match existing materials. (f) Light steam cleaning of stone and rendered surfaces. Permission for development at a site of approximately 0.16 ha, a Protected Structure (RPS No. 6437). The proposed development will consist of the: (a) Removal of (twentieth century) bollards on the Parnell Street frontage; (b) Removal of (twentieth century) bollards and railings on the Cavendish Row frontage; (c) Provision of hand-forged galvanised mild steel railings and piers with painted finish, on granite plinths, generally of overall height 1.5m, rising to 1.7m at pier locations, incorporating: (i) 1 No. vehicular service gate, (4.59m in width) on the Parnell Street frontage, adjacent to the Rotunda Hospital (a Protected Structure RPS No. 6419 and RPS No. 6420) (the gate will also be used by patrons to enter and exit shows); (ii) 1 No. cyclist and pedestrian gate (4.59m in width), on the Parnell Street/Cavendish Row junction. PROTECTED STRUCTURE: The proposed development will consist of: the removal of all existing advertising signage and associated equipment facing Parnell Street on the front of the Ambassador Theatre's entrance portico; and replacement with the erection of 3 No. wall-mounted static digital display advertising signs mounted on the portico's attic storey and front entrance walls (1 No. on the portico's attic storey; and 2 No. on the portico's front entrance walls); and all associated works. The proposed static digital display advertising sign mounted on the portico's attic storey will be located within the central cavity of the attic storey (where exists a non-original 'AMBASSADOR' sign) and will be 0.75 m in height and 4.5 m in width. As an alternative option to the removal of the existing 'AMBASSADOR' sign, should the Planning Authority prefer its retention, the static digital display advertising sign mounted on the attic storey would instead be mounted over the existing 'AMBASSADOR' sign (as) is suggested as a possible alternative option on page 188 of the Architectural Heritage Protection: Guidelines for Planning Authorities (2011)). The 2 No. proposed static digital display advertising signs on the portico's front entrance walls will be 1.41 m in height and 0.67 m in width. The total area of existing advertising signage to be removed is 31.93 sq m and the total area of proposed replacement signage to be erected is 5.27 sq m. Planning permission for development at Holiday Inn Express (Formerly known as Findlater House), 28-32 O'Connell Street Upper and Cathal Brugha Street / Findlater Place, Dublin 1. The application site is located on the junction of O'Connell Street Upper, Findlater Place and Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin 1. The subject site is located within the O'Connell Street Architectural Conservation Area. The proposed development will consist of alterations and provision of an extension (comprising 7 storeys over basement) to the existing / permitted 8 storey hotel building (an additional eighth storey, permitted under Reg. Ref.: 2084/18 & ABP Ref.: 301378-18, and a fire fighting shaft, permitted under Reg. Ref.: 2850/19, have yet to be implemented). The proposed development comprises of the following: • Alterations to the existing basement level involving the omission of the existing car parking spaces and access ramp to provide 9 no. hotel rooms, plant, bin store and ancillary back of house areas; • The demolition of c. 355 sq.m of existing hotel floorspace and external ancillary structures within the existing courtyard and alterations to the existing bar/restaurant at ground floor level, and provision of a proposed extension including an additional 9 no. hotel rooms at ground floor level. The development consists of: (i) change of use of hotel public house to additional hotel bedrooms and café/ work hub at ground floor of the hotel. The application seeks to provide 2 no. additional en-suite hotel bedrooms to the rear, and a café/ work hub, with toilet to serve café to the rear, fronting Dorset Street; (ii) alterations to the layout of the office and entrance hall to provide for a reception area and communal lounge; (iii) alterations to the layout of bedroom 3 at ground floor; (iv) alterations to existing ope between 18 & 19 Dorset Street to provide direct access from the lounge into the café workhub; (v) alteration of existing ope to provide access to the café/workhub from Dorset Street; (vi) all associated ancillary works necessary to facilitate the proposed development.
The development will consist of the replacement of the existing telephone kiosks with a new Telephone Kiosk with integral communication unit and a 1.53sq.metre digital advertising display. The proposed structure has an overall height 2.43m, a depth of 0.762m and a width 1.096m.
PROTECTED STRUCTURE. The development will consist of (a) new 4 storey building of 6 apartments comprising 1 no. two bed apartment and 5 no. 1 bed apartments; (b) part demolition of existing boundary wall & gateway onto Frederick Lane North; (c) associated development bicycle parking, bin stores, screened balconies & hard and soft landscaping; (d) proposed drainage system and associated attenuation and all associated site development works to rear of No. 29 Frederick Street North, Dublin 1, D01 NW86 with development access of Frederick Lane North. No alterations are proposed to the existing protected structure itself.
PROTECTED STRUCTURE. The proposed development will consist of the construction of a single storey temporary radiology unit in the rotunda lower carpark, on a c. 0.076 ha site. The project includes a link connection to the existing Admissions building and amendments to the façade of this building, where the new building abuts. The total proposed new building area is approx. 203 sqm. The proposed development is located within a conservation area and within the curtilage of the main Rotunda hospital and the Rotunda West Wing building (no's 6419 and 6420 on the record of protected structures). The proposed development includes ancillary and associated site works.
Permission consequent on the grant of permission (Ref. No. 3653/18). The proposed amendments will consist of: 1. Internal modifications to each apartment on each level 2. External facade alterations including an increase in parapet height of c. 1m 3. Material alterations are proposed to the roof level plant area of the development, in comparison to that previously consented.
PROTECTED STRUCTURE: The proposed development consists of the construction of a granite sign adjacent to Parnell Street along with ancillary and associated works. The proposed development is located within a conservation area and within the curtilage of the existing Rotunda Hospital, a protected structure (no's 6419 & 6420 on the record of protected structures).
