Site planning risk brief

The development will comprise of continuance use of the existing quarry development within an overall application area of c.24.7 hectares; extraction to the permitted level of 40m below Ordnance Datum, within the extraction area permitted under Plan. Reg. 03/4570; final restoration of the quarry void area and an area of 3.8 hectares to the North adjacent to the public road. Permission is sought for twenty years plus two years for final restoration (total duration 22 years). Permission is also being sought for an extension to the existing operating hours for the ready mixed concrete plant for out of hours operation of the plant up to a maximum of 40 occasions per year, to supply critical and strategic building/infrastructure/maintenance projects whose construction requires supply of concrete outside normal plant operating hours. An Environmental Impact Assessment Report has been prepared for the planning application.

Ext. of an existing quarry over an area of 19.9ha, and the deepening of the quarry floor from the level permitted under Reg. Ref. 99/3410 to 40m below Ordnance Datum, relocation and reconfiguration of existing 38kv electricity supply pole sets that traverse the southeast of the site, and all other associated development incl. the restoration works of the final quarry void (Extractive Area) and an area of 3,8 ha to the north adjacent to the public rd. (Rd Frontage Restoration Area). The development also consists of the retention of the northern and southern quarry faces over an area of 0.872ha from the extent of the quarry faces permitted under Reg. Ref. 99/3410 at Barryscourt, Rossmore, Carrigtohill. Extension of Duration of Permission granted under Planning Reference: 03/4570.

The construction of 2 no. new ESB substation & distribution room buildings and the decommissioning of an existing ESB substation and all associated site works.

Permission to (A) Decommission existing septic tank and percolation area serving existing dwelling and (B) install a new septic tank and percolation area.

Permission to construct a new dwelling house.

The implementation of a landscaping scheme to provide for the screening and landscaping of the northern boundary of the site using existing overburden materials, within an application area of 3.55 hectares.
